Meeting Minutes – February 20, 2017

Venue:  Sheryl Bolton Home.

Attendees:  Cathy Clark, Sandy Cook, Sheryl Bolton, Loreen Ruault, Mike Waberski, Denys Lawrence, Ron Blancher

1. Call meeting to order. 3:50 pm
2. Delegations & Presentation: Firesmart
   1. Norm Crerar, Laurie Skolrod, Floyd Gradley
   2. SSM Fire-smart presentation on what has already been done.
   3. Funding is available to implement a Fire-smart plan.
   4. History of the process taken to implement the Fire-smart plan at Predator Ridge and Canadian Lakeview Estates.
   5. Looking for support from SSPOA in communicating information to the membership.
   6. Meeting planned for the middle of March.
   7. Look to set up a separate group with various members from the community.

3. Adoption of the Agenda
   1. Mike Waberski moved to accept the Agenda. Seconded by Ron Blancher. 

4. Adoption of the Minutes from the January 17, 2017 Meeting.
   1. Loreen Ruault moved that the Minutes be accepted as circulated. Seconded by Ron Blancher.  Carried

 Directors Reports:

5. 1. Financial Report:
      1. January 31, 2017 Financial Report was presented.
      2. Loreen Ruault moved to accept the Financial Report as presented. Seconded by Cathy Clark.  Carried
   2. Action – Sandy Cook to send a thank you letter to SSMR for the use of the NATC for the SSPOA AGM.
   3. Member Engagement:
      1. Mail Chimp Program is working very well, currently have 292 Subscribers.
   4. Action: Plan to set up a meeting with potential website maintenance person.
   5. Action: Confirm existing membership list with database.  As of March 31, 2017 only paid members can access the website.
   6. Utilities:
      1. Star Gas has submitted their position and proposed a new commodity rate (lower). It will take 3 months to receive the ruling (May 2017)
   7. Action: Summary to be prepared for the Newsletter by Mike Waberski.
   8. SSMR Liaison:
      1. SSMR is looking for a new Sales & Marketing Person
      2. Frostbite Fatbike Races scheduled for February 25^th.

• Red Cross Emergency Services Open House February 22^nd

1. SSMR Task Force:
   1. Ross Foden has stepped down as chair.
   2. RDNO Committee as a Whole Meeting February 22^nd.

• Newsletter due to go out March 7^th

1. Next Open House will be a round table format, talking, asking questions.

1. Neighborhood Watch:
   1. No report – absent.
2. Composting at Silver Star:
   1. Set up will not happen for this season. To be tabled until the fall.
   2. Question to be brought forward at the Silver Star Stakeholders Meeting.

6. Matters Arising:
   1. Firesmart
      1. .SSPOA will form a committee to liaise with the Firesmart Committee
      2. . Denys Lawrence moved to form a SSPOA FireSmart Committee to liaise with the SSM Firesmart Committee. Seconded by Loreen Ruault.  Carried
   2. Silver Star Stakeholder’s Liaison Group meeting February 27, 2017
      1. Sandy Cook, Mike Waberski, Cathy Clark to attend.
